The Cow-Tail Switch and Other West African Stories, by Harold Courlander and George Herzog

Hooray for fun folk-tales!  Narrated very matter-of-factly, these brief stories describe how landmarks were formed, or how animals received unique characteristics, or just tell stories of very wise or silly or lazy or greedy people.  And because the humor in the stories is somewhat dry (although not so dry that you'll miss it) I hear them in my head in Lisette Lecat's voice.  Generally an easy read but still fun for all ages.
